Message guide for health & education issues published

A collection of 250 small achievable actions that people can take towards desired positive behaviours for high quality, highly accessible basic education and health for all Nigerians has been published by ENHANSE Project. ENHANSE recently rolled out 5,000 copies of the 40-page, illustrated, coloured booklet titled: "Message Harmonization Guide for Basic Education, Child Survival, HIV&AIDS/TB/OVC and Reproductive Health" or Message Guide.

The guide was developed to be a useful tool for organizations that engage in developing evidence-based materials for behaviour change and communication. The action points are based on the major issues in basic education and health in Nigeria, as identified in the latest demographic and health surveys (NDHS and DHS EdData,) Sentinel Surveys, etc. By emphasizing small achievable actions, individuals can start taking the actions immediately on their own initiatives, build their confidence and graduate to bigger actions for improved national health and educational indices.

The Message Guide was developed by ENHANSE (Enabling HIV&AIDS/TB and Social Sector Environment), a USAID-funded project, together with its governmental and CSO partners. These include: the Federal Ministry of Health (FMOH), the Federal and State Ministries of Education (FMOE), COMPASS (Community Participation for Action in the Social Sector), GHAIN (Global HIV&AIDS Initiative, Nigeria) and other implementing partners and agencies like SFH, NACA and some SACAs.

ENHANSE is now finalizing a distribution strategy for the guide. The guide will be sent to relevant governmental and CSO institutions and agencies working in the area of education and public health.
